Bumrah’s Humorous Take on Medium-Pace Label

Ahead of leading India in the first Test against Australia in Perth, Jasprit Bumrah showcased his wit during the pre-match press conference. Responding to a question where he was referred to as a medium-pace bowler, Bumrah humorously quipped, “Medium pace yaar, 150 daala hai maine, fast bowler bol sakte ho (Medium pace, my friend, I’ve bowled at 150 kmph; you can call me a fast bowler),” leaving the room in laughter.

Advocacy for Fast Bowler Captains

Bumrah, stepping in for skipper Rohit Sharma, emphasized the value of fast bowlers as captains. Citing Kapil Dev’s historic leadership for India and Pat Cummins’ current success with Australia, Bumrah noted, “I have always advocated for pacers being captains. They are tactically sharp. Hopefully, this starts a new tradition.”

India’s Preparedness for the Series

Having arrived in Australia 10 days prior, Team India trained at the WACA to adapt to local conditions. Bumrah expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and encouraged young players to step up. “We are ready. The onus is on the youngsters to deliver,” he stated.

Leadership in Focus

This marks Bumrah’s second stint as India’s Test captain, following his debut as skipper against England. With his humorous and confident demeanor, Bumrah has already set an engaging tone for the series. Fans eagerly await his on-field tactics as India gears up for an intense battle Down Under.
